The “Winter Garden” coincides with the beginning of the Christian observation of advent (four weeks preceding Christmas) and the Jewish festival of Hanukah. At Winter Garden, the staff and children traverse an evergreen spiral to light a candle from the source, deep within the center of the spiral. -Learning Advent songs -Arts and crafts: Spiral themed Painting, chalkboard, candles making/decor action -Practicing Spiral walk -Nature Table ADVENT SPIRAL WALK- A spiral of greenery is laid out on the floor of a quiet, darkened room and filled with items representing three kingdoms: plant, mineral, and animal (man being the fourth). At the center a lit candle is placed, and as we approach the darkest days of the year, we must search for that inner light and strength to sustain us through dark times.
